Introducing Ollie owl

Here is my first sewing attempt.  I made the body using the fabric I bought yesterday, the wings and eyes were made with felt.  The buttons and ribbon were from my card crafting bits and bobs. Not quite as good as I hoped it would come out but after 5 1/2 hours of making it and a fight with the sewing machine I'm quite proud :) Not sure whether to change his wings or not. Suggestions will be very much appreciated!

My first sewing attempt

I've decided that I am going to try to make a lovely owl I found on FREEBIES FOR CRAFTERS' blog http://freebiesforcrafters.blogspot.com/2009/12/give-hoot-owl.html.  Instead of using all felt I'm going to try using some material I bought yesterday. I've taken over the living room table and my mum's sewing machine...... we'll see what it turns out like later!

Shopping for supplies

Usually a card maker but been thinking about beginning to sew. Went with mum to Monmouth today to get some fabric and magazines to get me started.  Not sure what I'm going to make yet but ideas are very welcome!  I managed to get some bargins today.  Small pieces of materials were 50p per pack, fat square £2.50 and the magazine was £3.99.  Overall I think the day was very successful.  Thinking about making a quilt but don't think this material will stretch that far.  That means I'll have to go shopping again..... what a coincidence!  Well here's to starting a blog and starting to sew!
